Dr. John Gannon is president of BAE Systems Intelligence & Security. The sector is a leading provider of innovative network solutions and mission‐enabling information technology, analysis and mission support solutions, which extend across defense, intelligence and civilian markets.

Dr. Gannon joined BAE Systems in 2005 as vice president of Global Analysis, a BAE Systems I&S business area. Previously, Dr. Gannon served in the most senior analytic positions at the CIA and in the intelligence community, including as deputy director for intelligence at the CIA, chairman of the National Intelligence Council and assistant director of Central Intelligence for Analysis and Production. He headed the White House team in the Department of Homeland Security Transition Planning office, standing up the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate. Dr. Gannon also served as the staff director of the House of Representatives Select Committee on Homeland Security.

Dr. Gannon serves on the board of directors of the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation, Voices of September 11th and the Center for National Policy. He is a founding member of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s National Security Preparedness Group and is the vice chair of the National Academies Committee on Global Science and Technology Strategies and Their Effect on U.S. National Security.

Dr. Gannon has published several articles and studies, and received many awards and medals throughout his career, including the CIA’s Distinguished Intelligence Medal, Director’s Medal and Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal; the Defense Intelligence Agency Director’s Awards; the National Imagery and Mapping Agency Medal; the National Security Agency Distinguished Service Medal; the U.S. State Department’s Superior Honor Award and the U.S. Secret Service’s Director’s Recognition Award. In 2004, President George W. Bush awarded him the National Security Medal, the nation’s highest intelligence award.

Dr. Gannon earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Holy Cross College, and his master’s and doctorate degrees in history at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a former naval reserve captain and Vietnam veteran.
