Bob Edmonds

Senior Military Fellow

Brigadier General Bob Edmonds serves on the Syndetics Executive Leadership team and is responsible for growing the strategic advisory consulting and helping lead the day-to-day operations. As a principal in the company, he also directs market growth through Syndetic’s core offerings of Strategy, Capture and Program Assessment. He brings extensive experience in the Washington, DC market and the aviation and aerospace industry through almost 30 years of experience in the United States Air Force and industry.

Before joining Syndetics, Edmonds was a senior member of Aerospace, Defense, and Aviation practice at Heidrick & Struggles International, a leading global executive recruiting and leadership consulting company. He joined Heidrick after a successful career in the United States Air Force, culminating with the rank of Brigadier General. Edmonds is also a command pilot with over 2500 flight hours and 300 combat hours, having led 42 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm.

In over a decade, Edmonds worked on Capitol Hill, the White House as a White House Fellow, and the Pentagon. He led the Air Force’s Senate Liaison office in the Russell Building on Capitol Hill during a momentous period of congressional history after September 11, and handled Air Force congressional affairs with both the House and the Senate as the Deputy Director for Legislative Liaison. Selected for a White House Fellowship in 1995, Edmonds was a special assistant to Philip Lader, a member of President Clinton’s cabinet and administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Additionally, he served in multiple senior operations and policy positions in the Pentagon, including deputy director for operations, National Military Command Center, where he performed initial analysis of developing military and political situations worldwide and strategic nuclear watch for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, and President of the United States.

Edmonds was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from the Air Force Academy with a BSCE degree and Columbia University with a MSCE degree as a Guggenheim Fellow, he completed Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus AFB, Mississippi, as a distinguished graduate, and was selected to fly the F-15 Eagle. He commanded at the flight, squadron, and wing level. Additionally, he earned a M.S in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University and has attended the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government on a senior executive program.
