Kimberly Dean serves as senior Advisor of the Bipartisan Policy Center Advocacy Network (BPCAN). Prior to joining BPCAN in April 2011, she worked on the staff of U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (KY) for ten years. While with Senator Bunning, Dean served the legislative office in several capacities, including legislative Assistant, legislative director, and counsel & chief of staff. In these roles, she oversaw Bunning’s efforts on a wide range of legislative issues, supporting the Senator’s work on the Senate Finance Committee, Banking Committee, Energy Committee and Budget Committee. In her managerial capacity, Dean also developed and coordinated political and Senate floor strategy and was responsible for supervising the Senator’s D.C.-based legislative and press staff. During her time on Capitol Hill, Dean also advised the Senator and helped lead legislative efforts on energy and environmental legislative policy during several congressional energy bill debates, including with respect to clean coal, biodiesel and nuclear issues.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Dean received a B.A. in chemistry from Hanover College and holds a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law. Dean is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland. Before attending law school, she worked as an environmental chemist.
