General Ronald Keys joined the Bipartisan Policy Center in February, 2008, shortly after retiring from the Air Force, where he served for over forty years. His last assignment was as Commander, Air Combat Command, the Air Force’s largest major command consisting of more than 1,200 aircraft, 27 wings, 17 bases and 200 operating locations worldwide with 105,000 active-duty and civilian personnel. General Keys holds a Bachelor of Science from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Golden Gate University. In addition to numerous professional military education courses, General Keys has participated in the National and International Security Seminar, JFK School of Government, Harvard, as well as Leadership at the Peak, Center for Creative Leadership, in Colorado Springs. In September 2007, he received the Air Force Association's most prestigious annual honor, The H. H. Arnold Award, as the military member who had made the most significant contribution to national defense.
General Keys resides in Woodbridge, Virginia and is an independent consultant with RK Solution Enterprises. As a senior advisor to the BPC, in addition to providing expertise to projects on energy, transportation, and national security, he is the lead for the National Security Speaker Series and Cyber Security project. He is a member of the Center for Naval Analyses Military Advisory Board on the DoD Energy and Climate Change project. Additionally he consults as a senior mentor to military exercises and experiments and advises various Department of Defense and non-Department of Defense related firms and agencies on advanced technology, cyber planning and operations, marketing decisions, strategic planning, and policy development issues.
