Kansas City Star: Dole to hold hearing on health-care reform

Former senator Bob Dole of Kansas will be back in the state Monday — to listen.

He’ll hold an afternoon-long hearing on health-care reform in Lawrence, part of his work for a group called the Bipartisan Policy Center.

“Whoever wins in November, health care is going to be on the front burner in January,” Dole said.

Dole and three other former high-profile senators — Tom Daschle, George Mitchell and Howard Baker — formed the center in 2007 in an effort to “help break political gridlock” between the two major parties.

The group will eventually issue health-care policy recommendations.

The hearing starts at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Dole Institute on the University of Kansas campus. It is free to the public, but space is limited.
