The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) is pleased to invite you to the second event in the National Security Initiative’s (NSI) Securing Our Homeland series:
BATTLE-SPACE OR MARKET PLACE: THE CYBER THREAT AT HOME
with
Lieutenant General Keith Alexander
Director, National Security Agency
September 24, 2008
12:00pm
In our unstable and wired world, governments and private systems are increasingly worried about the potential havoc that could be caused by attacks against critical cyber systems. While to date there has been no proven example of a politically-motivated, state-sponsored cyber attack, our network based national security and commercial infrastructures are probed and attacked daily, and are vulnerable to a wide array of disruption from an even wider array of threats. Assuring security of our Cyber Space presents a complex and multifaceted challenge that requires private and public cooperation, coordination of numerous government agencies, and simultaneous emphasis on both deterrence and consequence management.
The BPC’s Securing Our Homeland series, seeks to facilitate an in-depth discussion about these timely issues among key policymakers, experts and practitioners, in order to provide focus on gaps, priorities, and policy options for the future.
