BPC Oklahoma Statement

Regarding
“It is encouraging to see prominent political leaders come together to confront hyper-partisanship and policy gridlock. The great challenges facing our nation demand that democrats and republicans work together to restore civility and substantive dialogue in our national policy debates. The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) was established in 2007 by former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole and George Mitchell to provide a forum where tough challenges can be addressed in a pragmatic and politically viable manner. The BPC supports the efforts by Senators’ Boren and Nunn and others to develop bipartisan policies. The BPC does not and will not take any position regarding individual campaigns or candidates. Instead, we seek to develop policy solutions that make sense for the nation and can be embraced by both parties. After reaching shared solutions, we will then work to implement these policies through the political system. The BPC is currently focused on five major issues: national security, health care, energy, agriculture, and transportation. Each of these efforts is led by a diverse team of political leaders and policy experts. We look forward to working with Senators’ Boren and Nunn and the other participants toward our shared goal of forming bipartisan consensus on today’s most challenging policy issues.”
