Former McCain Spokesperson Brings Experience and Leadership
Washington, D.C. – The Bipartisan Policy Center today announced the hiring of Eileen McMenamin as their new Communications Director. Her appointment reflects the BPC's determination to play a significant role in advancing bipartisan solutions to the country's most pressing problems in this election season and beyond. With former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole and George Mitchell leading the organization, the BPC is working to formulate practical solutions and encourage common ground between the parties on major national challenges such as health care, energy, national security, transportation and agriculture.
McMenamin recently served three years on Capitol Hill as the Communications Director for Senator John McCain. Prior to joining Senator McCain's office, she worked for 13 years as a political producer for CNN and ABC News, covering the 1996, 2000 and 2004 presidential elections, and producing for programs such as "Inside Politics with Judy Woodruff," "Crossfire," and "Good Morning America."
"We are thrilled to have Eileen joining our team," said BPC President Jason Grumet. "She brings experience and knowledge from both sides of the media-political spectrum. Her unique insight will be instrumental in advancing the mission of the Bipartisan Policy Center and raising the visibility of the practical solutions we offer."
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with this group of highly-respected people," McMenamin said. "Regardless of which party wins the upcoming election, the White House and Congress will face a long list of challenges at home and abroad. And the greatest likelihood of progress on those challenges will come through productive ideas that bring the parties together. I hope to help the BPC both highlight its agenda and further develop its efforts to move beyond today's partisan politics toward viable solutions."
