Washington, D.C. – The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) and the United States Energy Association will host a presentation featuring former Senator Pete Domenici, now a Senior Fellow at the BPC, on a 21st century framework for global nuclear power. The event will be held at 11:00am on December 1, 2009, in the First Amendment Lounge of the National Press Club.

In his speech, Senator Domenici will outline what policies are needed to secure and support the expansion of global nuclear power. He will propose a new non-proliferation paradigm to support the nuclear renaissance and provide a framework for peaceful deployment in the developing world, and discuss the need for U.S. global leadership to responsibly manage and secure increasing amounts of used fuel.

Senator Domenici joined the BPC in January 2009 after retiring from the U.S. Senate. During his 36 years in the Senate, Senator Domenici served as Chairman and Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Budget Committee, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Appropriations Sub-Committee of Energy and Water Development. At the BPC, Senator Domenici focuses on energy and national debt issues.
