Debt Reduction Task Force

The Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Debt Reduction Task Force will develop and promote politically viable solutions for reversing the uncontrolled growth in our nation’s debt.

In recent years, Congress has demonstrated a reluctance to confront the nation’s growing debt crisis through its regular legislative process. Therefore, the Task Force will submit a comprehensive plan for political leaders to draw upon when making the necessary tough choices.

The Task Force’s goal is to develop debt and deficit reduction solutions that will be actively considered by policymakers. The members are committed to formulating a complete plan that is politically viable, but also an ambitious one that takes strong steps toward effectively combating the long-term fiscal insolvency that our nation faces.

The Task Force is co-chaired by former Senator Pete Domenici, Senior Fellow at BPC, and Dr. Alice Rivlin, former OMB Director, founding CBO Director and Federal Reserve Board Vice-Chair. They are leading a bipartisan group of federal budget experts, academics, former elected officials, and several key stakeholders in deliberations on one of the most serious issues facing our country today – the exploding national debt.
